In a testament to never giving up, the Glen Waverley Cougar Under 13's showed that
perseverance can win games in the Grand Final today. The opposition required just two runs to
level, and three runs to win, with 5 wickets in hand in the final over of the game.
Up steps Seniya Muthukumar with a dot ball first up.....a single of the next one to take them
to 5/187 (we made 8/188)......4 balls to go and Seniya bowls another dot ball. Next ball,
"BOWLED"......two balls to go.....great ball from Seniya and they take off for a suicidal run
and get run out !!!!
Last ball and again, they take off for a run....both of their batsman are more or less at the
same end, with our Keeper Nick Crawford running to the Bowlers end with the ball trying to
beat their batsman. Nick then throws it to Seniya and its RUN OUT !!!!!! Cougars WIN !!!!!!
Great testament to the lads and a great team win with all the boys contributing in one way or
Thanks to Max Roberts and Kasun Madava for all their assistance for the year......and JB
finally wins a Grand Final as a Coach at the 5th attempt !!!!
Many thanks for all those from the club who came down to support - it is truly
U/13 INTO THE GRAND FINAL
We are in into the Grand Final. The Under 13's tonight chased down Toorak Prahan's total of 9/185 with a 9/187 to snatch the game with a ball to spare !!!!
Impressively, we needed 28 runs with two overs to go and did it easy with Ashley Chandrasinghe making 53 n.o and Nick Crawford hitting 47 n.o !!!! Both hit sixes in the last two overs which in the Under 13's is quite rare......it was real 20/20 stuff.
That being said, each of the boys made a contribution and people like Tom Dixon and Ishane Warawita should be really proud of their innings tonight, despite not top scoring.
Second year in a row that the Under 13's have made the Grand Final - let's hope that this year we turnaround last year's loss.
We'll be playing Murrumbeena at Murrumbeena on Thursday and Friday night. Any Juniors or Seniors who can assist on Tuesday night at Training by bowling or assist with fielding drills would be much appreciated.
Additionally, the more people at the game on Thursday and Friday night to support our future cougars, the better !!!!
